TRIGGER WARNING: Man slashed in terrifying machete assault in Melbourne’s east

Two victims have been targeted in a horrific machete assault in Belgrave on Wednesday night.

Police allege that a man and a woman were confronted by a group of offenders, before the 27-year-old Ferntree Gully man was slashed, with the offenders taking off in a white BMW sedan.

“It happened so quickly,” a worker at Tacos ‘N’ Tequilas in Belgrave, told Jacqui Felgate.

Federal Member for Casey, Aaron Violi, then reacted to the “heartbreaking” attack.

“The worst feeling to be honest, is that it wasn’t surprising,” Mr Violi said.

Victoria Police confirmed on Friday afternoon that two arrests have been made, with detectives working on identifying an alleged third attacker.
