Man slashed with machete during violent carjacking in Melbourne’s west

A man has been slashed with a machete during a carjacking in a car park in St Albans overnight.

Police were called to a fast-food outlet on St Albans Road at around 3am this morning, following reports a man had been threatened and injured by an armed youth, who then stole his car.

Police found the stolen Kia Sedan on the Western Ring Road and followed it to Sunshine, where a number of units boxed in the vehicle, removing the driver.

The 16-year-old boy from Keilor Downs, who appeared substance affected, was taken to hospital under police guard.
