Man taken to hospital after nasty Northcote smash

A man has been taken to hospital after a nasty smash between a tram and car at Northcote.

Emergency services were called to the collision on High Street just after 5pm on Thursday.

Fire crews were needed to free a man trapped in the car.

He was taken to the Royal Melbourne hospital.
