Man trapped under Docklands pier

It’s believed a man have spent the night under a pier in Docklands, with emergency crews called to undertake a rescue operation just before 9am.

The incident occurred in front of Etihad Stadium at Central Pier.

Police reporter Pat Mitchell told 3AW Mornings the man appeared to be homeless and may have mental health issues.

Pat said the man was about 15-20 metres underneath the pier.

Crews went under on a rubber dingy and rescued the man, who will be transported to hospital.
