Man under police guard after late night Collingwood crash

A man is under police guard in hospital after allegedly running a red light and causing a multi-vehicle crash at Collingwood on Monday night.

Police say the 27-year-old was in a black Proton coupe travelling north on Smith Street shortly before midnight when he collided with a Ford sedan.

That sedan has then hit three other vehicles and a tram stop.
