Police have released an image of a man they wish to speak with over a series of deceptions involving credit card fraud over the past two months at Brunswick and Coburg.

Investigators have been told an unknown male attended a retail store on Sydney Road, Brunswick, about 6.30pm on July 25.

While there, the man attempted to purchase power tools, shelving, brackets and other assorted hardware using an eftpos card.

The eftpos transaction was unsuccessful and the man ran from the store empty handed.

Investigators believe this incident may be linked to a deception that occurred on June 16 at Coburg.

A man of similar description entered a motorcycle store just before 5pm and purchased a motorcycle.

It is believed the man manually entered information into the eftpos machine to manipulate the transaction.

It was later established the sale had not been authorised however the motorcycle has not been recovered.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
