Mankini-wearing Olympic hopeful stood down after bizarre stunt

Olympic hopeful Shane Rose has been stood down just months before the Paris Games for wearing a mankini while at a showjumping event earlier this month.

Equestrian Australia has opened an investigation in the incident, following a complaint from an onlooker at the event.

“The general consensus was it was all aimed in good humour,” Rose told Tom Elliott on 3AW Mornings.

“I’ve been stood down at this time and hopefully for my sake, we get an answer in the next few days and it’s (hopefully) positive so I can get back to preparing for the Paris Olympics.”
