Mastercard unveils new ‘biometric’ fingerprint technology
Fingerprints will soon be the key to making a purchase on plastic.
?First it was the magnetic strip, then it was the chip, now we can tap-and-go and soon it will be TOUCH-and-go.
Mastercard’s latest creation uses a fingerprint to verify payments.
Card holders would register their fingerprint with their bank, and instead of entering a pin, purchases would be approved at the touch of a sensor.
The biometric card has already been trialled in South Africa and is likely to be rolled out across much of the world by the end of the year.
Other card providers expected to follow soon after.
