Matt Hill’s dream will come true when he calls the Melbourne Cup tomorrow
When he was just 16-year-old, Matt Hill told Tony Jones he would one day call the Melbourne Cup.
Tomorrow, that dream comes true.
“Gee a few things have changed since then!” he told Ross and John on 3AW Breakfast.
He’s the new voice of racing, but says he’s more excited than nervous about calling the big race tomorrow.
The Cox Plate was anxiety inducing, he said.
“There was such a build up everyone to a man was asking me, I was feeling the pressure that day, more than any other day,” he said.
“The Melbourne Cup is a different race, because you go into race caller mode, there’s not a lot of theatre there.”
“You just call the race.
“I’m not as stressed about the Cup, I’m just excited.”
