Mr Guy was the only candidate for leader after Mr O’Brien chose not to contest the ballot.

His return to leadership comes less than three years after he led the party to a landslide defeat in the 2018 election.

Speaking to Neil Mitchell in his first interview since returning as leader, Mr Guy said he doesn’t want to be “involved in negativity”.

“I want to put forward a positive agenda for Victoria,” he said.

David Southwick is the new deputy leader.

Speaking after his victory, Mr Guy says it’s “time for the language of one Victoria to move forward”.

“That’s going to be our agenda for the future – a Victoria coming out of COVID better than it was before”.
