Opposition leader Matthew Guy says the government needs to be tough on young offenders.

This follows a spate of car jackings and home invasions across Melbourne.

Yesterdays youth crime summit was told jailing teenagers who commit crime won’t help rehabilitate them.

The government says it’s working with Victoria police to address the issues.

Mr Guy has told Tom Elliott the system needs an overhaul.

‘Not only do they not respect our law, they don’t fear our law.’

3AW Drive attempted to contact the government for comment, but they were all either on leave or unavailable.
