Matthew Guy says violent offenders won’t be released play footy if he wins election
Matthew Guy says violent offenders won’t be released from jail to play football if he wins the November election.
The commitment from the opposition leader comes after it was revealed one-punch killer Dylan Closter has been playing each weekend for Rushworth, without the knowledge of his victim’s family.
Closter was convicted of killing David Cassai with a punch at Rye on New Year’s Eve in 2012.
Mr Guy told Tom Elliott the system needed to change.
“It’s just not good enough,” he said.
“If I’m Premier, this program will not be in effect for violent offenders.”
