Matthew Guy speaks with Neil Mitchell about latest polls, which have him ahead of Daniel Andrews
Daniel Andrews is in serious trouble, if you believe the latest opinion polls.
But the Premier says he’s only focused on ‘working hard’ for Victoria.
A stunning poll conducted by ReachTEL, published in the Herald Sun, has Labor trailing the Coalition 46-54 on a two-party preferred basis.
The result even appeared to stun Matthew Guy.
The government has dismissed it as a Liberal-driven poll, a claim rejected by Mr Guy on 3AW Mornings.
‘They would say that,’ he told Neil Mitchell.
‘Let me be very, very clear – the Liberal Party, the National Party, or any associated entity hasn’t got anything to do with this.’
Mr Guy said the result highlighted the fact the next election would be close.
‘I’ve said that for some time,’ he said.
‘The election will be competitive, it’s as simple as that,’
‘I’ll give everything I’ve got.’
Neil Mitchell said it was an ominous result, if you believed it.
He wants to know more about the poll.
‘If you believe this poll, they’re gone,’ the 3AW Mornings host said.
‘I’m not convinced, though.
‘The election is still 20 months away.’
Mr Guy promised to revive the controversial East-West Link project if elected, saying he would also scrap the Safe Schools program.
