People will be able to apply to access information on the Sex Offenders register under a State Opposition plan.

Successful applications will receive details of serious sex offenders, including a picture.

Penalties of up to 10 years’ imprisonment will apply for misuse of the information acquired.

“It is there for people to use in a sensible way,” Mr Guy said.

“You can’t go around and just run mob justice.”
