Matthew Lloyd explains why Jobe Watson’s decision is ‘massive’ for Essendon

Essendon great Matthew Lloyd says it could have set the Bombers back a decade if Jobe Watson pulled the pin on his AFL career.

Lloyd said on 3AW the Essendon captain’s decision to play on was ‘massive’ for several reasons.

‘He’s been the face of this for the last four years,’ Lloyd explained.

‘For him to walk away … that would have probably been a reminder for the next 10 years what this has done to the players.

‘So for him to come back ? It’s massive for the footy club.’
