Matthew Lloyd says Cale Hooker is a ‘smokey’ of becoming Essendon captain

Essendon legend Matthew Lloyd says Cale Hooker is an outside chance of being appointed captain of the Bombers.

Lloyd said on Sportsday that Jobe Watson, Brendon Goddard and Dyson Heppell were the three obvious contenders.

But he threw up another name, potentially in the mix.

‘Don’t rule out Cale Hooker as a smokey,’ Lloyd said on 3AW.

He said he’d give the role to Heppell.
