Matthew Lloyd says players in Hawthorn’s position can become individuals
The vultures are circling Hawthorn again after another horrible loss.
The Hawks lost to St Kilda by 75 points, just two weeks after back-to-back 86-point losses in Rounds 3 and 4.
Essendon legend Matthew Lloyd said he experienced a similarly dispiriting start to the season in 2006, when Essendon won just one of the first 15 games and just three for the year.
‘It becomes every man for themselves,’ Lloyd said.
‘You start thinking of your own future. People become individuals.’
Mick Warner said Hawthorn fans will be nervous about ‘selling the farm’ to get Jaeger O’Meara, but Lloyd said he needs to be cut some slack after two years out of the game.
