Matthew Lloyd says the Western Bulldogs would be better off recruiting Brent Harvey than Travis Cloke.

He said on 3AW the axed North Melbourne great would be a better fit for the reigning premier next season.

Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge reaffirmed the club’s interest in Cloke during premiership celebrations on Monday.

But Lloyd isn’t so sure.

‘I’ve said along – so I’m not just jumping on now they’ve won a premiership – that (Brent) Harvey would be a better fit for them,’ Lloyd said on Sports Today.

‘It would allow Caleb Daniel, Luke Dahlhaus and all those guys to play through the midfield.’

Lloyd said he struggled to see where Cloke would fit in, with Tom Boyd, Jake Stringer, Tory Dickson and a returning Stewart Crameri already there.

‘Initially, they would have thought Cloke could fill a role for Jack Redpath, but as things change as the weeks go by ? their need for Cloke becomes less and less,’ Lloyd said.
