Matthew Richardson gives an insight into Lance Franklin ahead of his return

AFL great Matthew Richardson has given Sydney superstar Lance Franklin a glowing endorsement ahead of his return to football.

Richardson said the livewire forward had ‘never looked fitter’ as the Swans prepare to take on Collingwood in a first round blockbuster at the SCG.

The 3AW Football expert caught up with Franklin in Sydney on Monday.

The three-time Coleman medallist has been managing mental issues over the off-season.

‘I tell you what, he seems in a great space mentally,’ Richardson said of Franklin on Sports Today.

‘Physically? He looks a million dollars. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him look fitter.’
