Matthew Richardson says Richmond should look at Harley Bennell, Chris Yarran and Jack Redden

Richmond great Matthew Richardson has flagged Harley Bennell, Chris Yarran and Jack Redden as possible recruiting targets for his former club this summer.

The Tigers are reeling after their third consecutive elimination final loss, with plenty of discussion already erupting about what the club can do to get over that hurdle next year.

Richardson said Bennell was undoubtedly a risk, given his off-field troubles, but maybe one worth taking.

‘I would definitely look at him,’ Richardson said on Sports Today.

‘I think it’s undoubtedly a risk if someone’s got a history of not being able to toe the line over a number of years? but maybe if he knows it’s his last chance?

‘The change of club and being basically sacked from your club? surely a light bulb has got to go off?’

Gerard Healy backed Richmond assistant Mark Williams to pull the troubled Gold Coast young gun into line.

‘The more I think about it, the more I think it’s a match made in heaven,’ the Sports Today host said.

‘Choco Williams is the man for Harley Bennell.’
