Matthew Suckling ‘glued to the TV’ watching Western Bulldogs last season

Western Bulldogs recruit Matt Suckling admits he was ‘glued to the TV’ watching his new club last season.

The two-time premiership player was unveiled by the Bulldogs on Monday after making the switch from Hawthorn via free agency.

While he said it was ‘very, very hard’ to leave the Hawks, Suckling told Sports Today he was excited about his future with the Bulldogs.

‘The way they played last year and the way they shot up the ladder ? I know I found myself watching them quite often when I was sitting on the couch at home,’ Suckling said on 3AW.

‘I found myself glued to the TV just by the way they like to play and go about it.

‘I think it’s somewhere where my strengths can come to the fore, with the way they play.’

Suckling also playfully addressed reports former teammate Brian Lake wants him to wear No.36 at his new club.

Lake played almost 200 games in that number for the Bulldogs.

‘I have heard this,’ Suckling said with a laugh.

‘He is something else, isn’t he?

‘He’d be filthy if I took it, I think.’
