Mayhem on Melbourne roads as traffic light outages peaked at 35

11 sets of traffic lights are currently out around Melbourne and there are reports of gridlock throughout the city.

Department of Transport’s, Dan Velling, says Melbourne’s traffic light outages peaked at 35 earlier today as storms move across Melbourne.

“Unlike the train lines, the traffic lights they’re connected to the domestic power system, so if the power goes out and you’re home, if you’ve got traffic lights in your street, they’re likely out too,” he told Heidi Murphy.
