Mayor defends decision to move citizenship ceremonies during footy season

Wyndham City Council mayor Peter Maynard has reacted angrily to suggestions he’s moved citizenship ceremonies from Saturdays to Sundays simply for his own interests.

He’s told Tom Elliott it’s all above board and the reason he has done so is so he can attend as many local sporting clubs as possible and fulfil another aspect of his job.

“This has been brought about by a council who is just looking to sling some mud,” he said.
