Mayor in Melbourne’s west calls for ‘significant’ funding from state government

The mayor of Melton says the West cannot keep up with a growing demand for infrastructure as residents suffer from public transport blackouts and congested roads.

Steve Abboushi says they’re grateful for the support they’ve received from the state government but notes there’s a need for further investment.

“We need significant increase in funding for things like buses, we have new estates in the City of Melton that aren’t serviced at all,” he told Heidi Murphy, filling in for Jacqui Felgate.
