‘Media moment of the year’: Peter Ford on mushroom murderer’s sentencing

The sentencing of Erin Patterson next Monday is set to become one of the “media moments” of the year according to entertainment reporter Peter Ford.

In an extraordinary move, her sentencing will be broadcasted live in an Australian first after Justice Beale signed off on it.

“It’s a nod to the extreme public interest, I’m sure that Justice Beale wanted to weigh up the question of are we turning this into a piece of entertainment, or in fact, is there a genuine public interest in concern in the outcome of this case,” he told Ross and Russ.
