Medical experts at the Australasian College of Physicians have called for a total ban on alcohol marketing and advertising.

Speaking on 3AW Drive, Vice President of the Australian Medical Association (AMA), Tony Bartone, said sporting associated alcohol advertising must be banned.

‘It’s about the glamorisation of a culture, the glamorisation to a breed of new developing young Australians, making it fashionable to say that you can’t party without a drink, and sport and drink go together, which we know, it doesn’t’

Mr Bartone said the AMA want to send a clear message.

‘Sport involves endeavour, involves fun, involves competition at the highest level, but it doesn’t involve or need to have the association with alcohol’.
