Two-year-old Arlo spent “basically his whole life” at the Royal Children’s Hospital for 18 months of his life.

The outgoing boy was born with one of the rarest heart conditions in the world — hypoplastic right heart syndrome — which means the right side of his heart didn’t form properly in utero, and five other heart conditions.

Arlo’s mother, Bronte, says the support provided by staff at the hospital has been outstanding.

“His oxygen levels sit at about 60 or 70 per cent … He can turn blue and have breathing difficulties,” she told Jacqui Felgate and Jimmy Bartel, filling in for Ross and Russel.

“The hospital has given me the tools and the training to be able to see those signs .. I’m fortunate enough I am able to have him at home.”
