Over half of the students in cooking and hospitality courses drop out.

Ross and John think it might be the case because the rise of celebrity chefs and cooking TV shows provide unrealistic expectations of what being a chef actually is.

Frank Camorra, chef at MoVida in Hosier lane, told 3AW Breakfast nowadays people think being a chef is like being a rock star.

‘When I first started, you did it because you couldn’t do anything else,’ Mr Camorra said.

‘The perception of what a chef is has really changed.’
