Jeff Kennett says Melbourne could ‘easily host’ the 2022 Commonwealth Games after Durban was stripped of its hosting rights. 

The search is on to find a new city to host the event and the former Victorian Premier says Melbourne should be in the running. 

‘I think the Commonwealth Games will find it increasingly difficult to stage the games,’ he told 3AW Breakfast.

‘I think they should be looking for a permanent city.

‘And in that case if I were Melbourne, I’d be putting forward a proposition that would argue we would hold the next two or three Games.’
