Melbourne hit hard by Match Review Panel
Melbourne has been hit hard by the Match Review Panel.
Boom recruit Jordan Lewis can accept a three-match ban for striking Patrick Cripps, while gun forward Jesse Hogan can accept a two-week suspension for a strike on Sam Rowe.
It has since emerged that Cripps suffered a fractured jaw as a result of the hit.
Carlton football manager Andrew McKay said Cripps remains a chance to take on the Bombers on Sunday.
Lewis’ bad record also affected the penalty.
North’s Scott Thompson can accept a one-week ban for striking Patrick Dangerfield.
Sydney’s Zak Jones has been hit with a fine for rough conduct on Travis Cloke, while North ruckman Braydon Preuss and Hawk defender Ben Stratton were also fined.
Preuss can accept $1000 for rough conduct against Geelong’s Jackson Thurlow.
Stratton can accept $1000 for striking Eddie Betts.
Key Crows Rory Sloane and Tom Lynch were cleared for separate incidents involving Tom Mitchell and Grant Birchall.
