Mask usage in hospitals have been beefed up as the state battles yet another COVID wave.

While most people are unlikely to contract a severe bout of the disease, 3AW is being told the Royal Melbourne Hospital has instructed staff to wear N95 masks again amid the current wave.

“This (current) COVID wave is a little bit bigger,” Infectious Disease Paediatrician Professor Robert Booy told Jacqui Felgate on 3AW Drive.

“In the main, people don’t get COVID severely the second or third time but it’s possible to get is severely, or even get long COVID.”
