Melbourne needs to ‘scramble the egg’, says population expert
Melbourne is growing faster than it ever has – and we need to be prepared.
As Australia’s population reached 24 million overnight, discussions have begun as to how best to manage the growth.
Bernard Salt, Demographer with KPMG, told Neil Mitchell Melbourne currently resembles a fried egg, with all the jobs in the yolk.
‘We need to scramble it up and create mini-CBDs,’ Mr Salt said.
Mr Salt said Melbourne will have a population of 8 million by the middle of the century.
