Melbourne pensioner Greta’s phone call with the Prime Minister

Tom Elliott

A Melbourne pensioner, who told 3AW she had concerns over her gas heating costs, received a personal phone call from the PM.

Greta spoke with Neil Mitchell last month and said she simply couldn’t afford to turn on the heating on this winter.

On Friday she told Neil Mitchell she finally got to have her five minute conversation with Malcolm Turnbull, but it wasn’t all good news.

‘He basically took over the conversation!’ Greta said on 3AW Mornings.

‘He did explain he is negotiating with companies to get us a better deal.

‘In the end he says it’s very hard? That was about it! He gave me a lot of cold-comfort, to be honest.’

Greta says it’s pretty daunting to get a call from the Prime Minister, but she says it was nice of him to call.
