The alleged mistreatment of two french bulldog puppies in a Melbourne pet shop has sparked outrage online.

Debra Tranter, founder of animal rights organisation Oscar’s Law, took to Facebook to raise awareness of their alleged mistreatment.

She told 3AW Drive’s Tom Elliott the puppies are ‘very distressed’.

Debra told Tom the dogs are not taken out and walked each day.

She says, ‘They’re kept in there until they’re sold.’

‘The physiological damage and behavioural problems with these puppies, it’s very, very damaging.’

Tom says, ‘It’s like being in solitary confinement, except there’s two of them.’

A joint investigation by the RSPCA and the City of Melbourne is underway.
