Melbourne restaurant named best in Australia, among world’s top 20
A Melbourne restaurant has been named the best in Australasia, and in the top 20 in the world.
Attica in Ripponlea was this morning voted no.20 in the prestigious World’s 50 Best awards at San Sebastian in Spain.
Attica, famous for its elaborate take on Australian food and style, was up 12 places from no.32 last year.
It was lauded for its red kangaroo and marron dishes, and its unique touches such as dishes served in paperbark and dishes with names such as ‘Our Vegemite’, ‘Our Salada’, ‘Tac’Oz’ and ‘Pests of the Neighbourhood’.
Another Victorian restaurant, Brae at Birregurra in the Otways, was the only other Australian restaurant in the top 100 at no.58.
Osteria Francescana, from Modena in Italy, was voted no.1.
