The recent crime surge in Melbourne has seen the resurgence of Neighbourhood Watch.

Speaking to Neil Mitchell, Former County Court Judge and now President of Neighbourhood Watch Victoria (NWV), Michael Strong, said there are more and more volunteers signing up.

‘We’re getting a lot of enquiries and a lot of interest, particularly from people in the outer suburbs.’

Mr Strong said the community has to be involved in crime prevention.

‘The notion of leaving it all to the police is just unthinkable, we need organisations like NW which bring members of the community together to help prevent crime, we have a crime problem in this society at the moment…the community have got to get in behind the police and work together to try and reduce it.’
