Melbourne says goodbye to baby Sanaya
A grieving Melbourne community has said an emotional goodbye to baby Sanaya Sahib.
Family members of the 14-month-old girl, found dead near Darebin Creek on Sunday, have thanked the community for its support through what has been the toughest week of their lives.
More than 200 people gathered at Heidelberg West, releasing balloons in honour of the toddler.
Sanaya’s mother remains in custody, charged with her daughter’s murder.
The little girl’s uncle Jamel says the family is struggling but the support from the community has been overwhelming.
‘It’s amazing everyone showing support,’ he said.
‘It’s incredible to see, in our darkest hour, that everyone is there with their love and support.’
