It’s been a big week for Melbourne Storm.

The club, along with the Rugby League community were shocked by the announcement this week halfback Cooper Cronk would be leaving the club to move to Sydney.

The two-time Dally M Medal winner will end 14 years at Melbourne at the end of this season to be with his fiance.

Coach Craig Bellamy says he knew it was coming.

‘I had a chat with him last Wednesday, and he told me.

‘We thought it would be best to make that announcement.’

Having coached Cronk for his whole career, Bellamy told Sportsday he has had to work hard for his accolades.

‘A half back position became available and he hadn’t played much of it.

‘He has turned into one of the best halfbacks the game has ever seen.’

There is a mini family day for Melbourne Storm this Sunday at Gosch’s Paddock before their game against Cronulla Sharks at 4pm.
