Melbourne told to prepare for road chaos across the weekend

Commuters are being warned to carefully plan trips this weekend with roads and train lines impacted by major works.

The Tullamarine Freeway will be closed in both directions tonight, tomorrow and Sunday nights, while there are also closures on the Calder out-bound tonight, and inbound tomorrow night.

Run For The Kids will shut the Monash, West Gate and Bolte on Sunday morning.

Chris Miller from VicRoads told 3AW Breakfast the north-eastern suburbs will also be hit, due to works on the Hursbridge train line that last more than a months starting tomorrow.

The rail line carries about 10,000 people per hour, with many of those expected to move switch to cars.
