Melbourne Victory has been hit with a raft of sanctions after bringing the A-League into disrepute during the now infamous derby against Melbourne City before Christmas where supporters stormed AAMI Park and attacked a player, official and cameraman.

Football Australia handed down the findings of its investigation into the December 17 incident on Tuesday.

Melbourne Victory has copped a $550,000 financial whack, which comprises of $450,000 in fines and damages, as well as $100,000 in lost revenue.

Victory fans will be banned from sitting behind the northern end at home games for the rest of the season, which is where the fans got onto the pitch.

They won’t be allocated seating at away games for the rest of the season, either.

The Victory haven’t been stripped of any points, but a ten-point deduction may be triggered for each instance of serious supporter misconduct for the rest of this season and the next three seasons.

The Melbourne derby, which was abandoned after 22 minutes, must be replayed in April this year and the match will commence from the 22nd minute with the score Melbourne City 1 and Melbourne Victory 0.
