The 20 most liveable suburbs in Melbourne
The best Melbourne suburb to live in is Northcote, according to the PwC Australia City-Pulse 2021 analysis.
The study, which has been running for four years, has traditionally favoured suburbs closer to the CBD to reduce the commute.
But due to the pandemic the criteria has been tweaked.
“We’ve revisited the criteria somewhat and found factors such as reduced commute time with people being able to work from home, larger properties, more open space, slightly more affordable real estate, cheaper rental and easy access to supermarkets, playgrounds and cafes all put into the mix to sort of assess liveability,” Melbourne Managing Partner at PwC Australia, Peter Konidaris, told Ross and Russel.
“We’ve actually found that liveability is far more evenly spread, widely spread, across Melbourne.”
As a result, some suburbs have fallen sharply, while others have surged up the list.
Hawthorn, which topped the list last year, doesn’t make the top 20 this year, while Burwood has surged 228 places to 14th.
