Melbourne’s “most dangerous” drinking venues, according to hospital data
Crown Casino and the MCG are the most dangerous places to drink in Melbourne, according to a review of hospital admission data.
And Ross Stevenson has a theory as to why.
“If I go to a restaurant and have a steak and a bottle of red – I’m the happiest man on earth,” the 3AW Breakfast host said.
“But if I go to the casino, I could walk out $200 poorer.
“And at the MCG, I could have just walked out seeing my team lose to Collingwood by a point.
“In other words, they may be venues where there is a level of anger.”
Dr Simon Judkins, president of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine, said a number of a factors contributed.
“We know Crown Casino is obviously a place that serves alcohol 24-7 and the MCG is associated with big events, so you’re going to get a large gatherings of people at the MCG on occasions as well,” Dr Judkins said on 3AW.
