Melburnians have changed New York.

That’s what the mayor of the Big Apple told Melbourne mayor Robert Doyle…and it all comes down to coffee and smashed avocado.

When Cr Doyle joined Tony Jones this morning, caller Ken joined the conversation to ask about a coffee shop in New York with a Collins Street sign in it.

And then the owner of Little Collins Cafe in midtown New York, Leon Unglik was on the line.

The coffee shop, run by the Australian coffee entrepeneurs, is popular thanks to the Aussie-style brew and proudly shows off the Collins Street sign.

‘Things are great, things are going really well,’ he said.

Cr Doyle recalled when he visited New York and mayor Bill de Blasio told him Melburnians have changed New York.

‘We’re conquering New York one coffee cup at a time,’ Cr Doyle said.
