Men charged after Swan Hill police station evacuated in bomb scare
Two men have been charged after an explosives scare in the state’s north west.
Swan Hill police station was evacuated early on Sunday after white powder, found in an abandoned car at Lake Boga, was brought in by officers who thought it was drugs.
Along with the powder, a potentially explosive device was also found during the search of the car.
The bomb response unit was called to remove it.
The police station was evacuated around 6am and re-opened about seven hours later after being deemed safe.
Two men, aged 21 and 28, have been arrested and charged with possessing an explosive and bailed to appear at Swan Hill Magistrates Court on November 22.
