State Mental Health Minister Ingrid Stitt says it’s clear that a planned drug checking trial set to be rolled out in the coming months will save lives.

The Allan government announced late on Monday that it would trial the pill testing system across Victoria this summer and will run for 18 months.

“It’s incumbent on me to get the best expert advice (on pill testing) which I’ve tried to do,” Ingrid Stitt MP told Heidi Murphy on 3AW.

“That advice is unequivocal and very clear, it’s not just from the Australian experience but also 31 jurisdictions from around the world who have drug checking in place. It does save lives and does reduce harm.”
