Merri-bek councillor unleashes on council for ‘total waste of ratepayer money’

A long-time Merri-bek councillor has turned on his fellow councillors after they voted to declare the region “nuclear free”.

Off the back of the AUKUS nuclear submarine deal, the council in Melbourne’s north has voted to erect nuclear-free zone signs at its main entrances.

Councillor Oscar Yildiz, who voted against the move, says ratepayers should be fuming.
