Metro Trains says it will fully comply with legal proceedings after being charged over the death of a teenager at Heyington Station in 2014.

18-year-old Mitchell Callaghan died while trying to board a departing train on the Glenwaverly line.

Passengers were holding the doors of the train open for him but he fell through the gap.

Transport Safety Victoria has laid two charges against Metro, including failing to ensure the safety of it’s rail infrastructure.

In a statement, Metro says safety on the network has always been and remains it’s priority.

It says as the matter is before the courts and they cannot comment further.
