Former Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke says he’d ‘love’ to patch things up with Andrew Symonds.

The pair fell out during Clarke’s rise to the captaincy.

Symonds was infamously sent home from a series against Bangladesh in 2008 after he went fishing instead of attending a team meeting.

Speaking about his new autobiography in studio with Neil Mitchell, Clarke said he wanted to move on from any issues the pair may have had in the dressing room.

But he’s not sure Symonds feels the same.

‘I haven’t spoken to Andrew for a long time ? that’s extremely disappointing,’ Clarke said on 3AW.

‘I would love to catch up with Simmo.

‘I went out of my way on a number of times ? I flew to Brisbane to see him ? I’d love for that friendship to go back to how it was.’

While Clarke has often appeared to be a divisive figure in the cricket fraternity, he said it wasn’t a true reflection of his relationships in the game.

‘I reckon I played with close to 100 players for Australia,’ Clarke explained.

‘I reckon there might 90 other players, 95 other players, who might come out and say Michael’s leadership actually helped my game, improve my game and that I do still have a great relationship with.’
