Michael Tuck says he knew the games record couldn’t last forever
Michael Tuck always knew the day would come that his games record would be broken.
Brent Harvey will break the Hawthorn great’s AFL games record of 426 on Saturday night – a record that has stood for 25 years.
But Tuck told 3AW Football records never stand forever.
‘I never thought that anybody can’t get there,’ Tuck said.
‘Even in the Olympic Games, every record’s broken.’
Tuck said North Melbourne invited him to Etihad Stadium for the game, but the AFL didn’t.
He also said he’s unsure if the current Hawthorn crop can accept the tag of the ‘best side ever’, even if they win a fourth flag in a row.
‘I still wouldn’t say we weren’t as good as them because I feel our side in the 80s was as good as any side that’s ever played,’ he said.
