Michelle Payne predicted Prince of Penzance’s Cup win two years ago

Cup-winning jockey Michelle Payne knew two years ago Prince of Penzance would win the prestigious race.

The punters may not have given the $101 outsider much chance, but Payne never lost faith.

‘I said to my sister two years ago that I’d win the Melbourne Cup on Prince of Penzance,’ Payne said on Tuesday.

Having realised her dream, Payne said the Cup win feels ‘too good to be true’.

‘It proves that if you’ve got a dream, you just never know.’
